Which nation was the first to use a fully electronic computer to crack enemy military codes?

Question #4342. Asked by clueless. (Jul 17 00 7:32 PM)

    JReid

The questioner may be thinking of the 'Bombe' of British mathematician Alan Turing, which he invented during World War II to decipher the messages being sent by the Germans using their 'Enigma' machine. The Bombe was largely electrical, and was truly the first computer used to crack codes. However, it was not 'fully electronic' in the sense of the large Cray machines developed in the 1960's and used by the government in their code-breaking efforts.
