    How many provinces did Canada have when it became a Dominion in 1867?

    		I believe it was the original 4 provinces.

    The Constitution Act, 1867, begins with a preamble that declares Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (the original four provinces) have requested to form a federation.
