The six who captained England to 10 victories or more in the 20th century are: Len Hutton (Test career 1952-55), Peter May (1955-61), Ray Illingworth (1969-73), Mike Brearley (1977-81), Graham Gooch (1988-93) and Mike Atherton (1993-2001).
