A large number of boats responded to Titanic's distress call. The Frankfurt and Olympic had responded to the "to all ships" call via wireless by 12:17am. The Carpathia was next to respond via wireless, around 12:21. The Virginian, Carpathia, Birma and Asian all made full steam toward that location. The Carpathia is, however, the only ship to carry any survivors. A large number of other boats recovered bodies.
