Why are Ivy League schools called "Ivy"?

There was plenty of ivy on the walls when the term was coined in the 30s--these schools have been growing it a while. However, this site will explain my take (follow the Ivy League link in the middle of the page), including the name of the reporter credited with coining the term, and why.
