It's made in Bourbon County, Kentucky.

Bourbon whiskey doesn't necessarily have to be distilled in Bourbon county but it does have to be made in the state of Kentucky. It must also satisfy a number of statutory requirements to legally call itself Kentucky bourbon. Here's a website that lists them:

Jim Beam is the most well-known Kentucky bourbon whiskey, but I prefer Maker's Mark.

Yes, I suppose I was not all inclusive enough. Bourbon whiskey is called bourbon because of where it is known to have been distilled. As for types, Maker's Mark is always around our house, but for special occasions (wife is from Kentucky), I have been known to come home with a bottle of Booker Noe Bourbon.
