As opposed to Red Dwarf, what in physics is a "white dwarf"?

A white dwarf is a very small hot white star.

The blue-white hot core of the star that is left behind. White dwarfs are only about the size of the earth, but they have as much mass as the sun. White dwarfs have no fuel, but they grow faintly from left-over energy.
