The name of the moon is Charon (for the boatman in Greek Mythology who carried the souls of the dead along the River Styx to Hades).

The satellite was discovered in 1978 when light curve studies gave evidence of a moon revolving around Pluto. Charon is approx. 789 mi (1262.4km) in diameter.

    (From Time Almanac 2000)

This information may be included in the website Hamlet provided, but I've just found it out, so thought I'd share it. Charon was discovered by James Christy and Robert Harrington.
