Niels Bohr is the principal founder of Quantum mechanics.
Sir William Hamilton (1805-1865) is the "forgotten founder" of quantum mechanics.
Max Planck (1858-1947)is another founder of quantum mechanics.
Then again there is Werner Heisenberg, another co-founder!
Of course not forgetting Einstein.
In principle then, should it be Heisenberg?

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked a question open to such opinion...
But my Science Book does give the credit to the German mathematical physicist, Werner Karl Heisenberg (1901-1976).
Quantum mechanics is the theory of small scale physical phenomena. Heisenberg's theory of uncertainty in 1927 overturned traditional classical mechanics and electromagnetic theory regarding energy and motions when applied to subatomic particles such as electrons and parts of atomic nuclei.
The theory states that it is impossible to specify precisely both the position and the simultaneous momentum (mass X volume) of a particle, but that they could only be predicted.
This meant that a result of an action can only be expressed in terms of a probability that a certain effect will occur, not certainty.
