Nobody knows for sure what killed Alexander; the history supports theories that he was poisoned, or that he succumbed to a fever or maybe malaria. What is common to the accounts is that he as taken quite suddenly ill after one of several banquets at which there was heavy drinking, and declined quickly despite the best efforts of his doctors to save him.
