Charlize (named after her late father Charles) Theron grew up on a farm outside Benoni, South Africa, as the only child. When she was 15, her father attacked her mother, and her mother shot her father in self-defense. Her father died, and her mother was not charged in the incident. She is fluent in Afrikaans. What is the link between cricketer Denis Compton and actress Charlize Theron? Not acting, but playing herself in a cosmetics ad, Charlize Theron insists on doing an American accent.
