Can fish recognize colors?

What I notice when I dive is that salt water fish are much more colorful than fresh, which I attribute to environment. However, depending on mood (anger, fear, mating,etc.)they do have color changes, so it prompted the question. Thanks for the link, Linus Mar 08 04, 6:26 PM
