    		Queen Nanny was the great 18th century leader of the Windward and Eastern Jamaican Maroons.

    		Queen Nanny, was like a Jamacian version of Harriet Tubman. A slave, she escaped with her five brothers. She organized a settlement in the Blue Mountains for escaped slaves to settle. In her lifetime she was credited with helping over 800 slaves to freedom.
