Paul was rumored to be dead, the rumor was fueled by clues on various album covers and in many songs. On 'Abbey Road' the VW license plate was 28IF meaning Paul would have been 28 years old "IF" he were still alive. Some people believed that the Paul on the cover was a lookalike and argued that since Paul was left handed and the Paul on the cover was carrying a cigarette in his right hand it wasn't the real Paul.
