Where does the April Fool's celebration last four times longer than the "standard" English one?

Question #45976. Asked by sequoianoir. (Apr 01 04 5:10 PM)

If I remember rightly from when I was a child and these things mattered, you could only play an April Fool's joke on someone until midday of April 1st, after which the joke would be on you. If that is so, then in Scotland, where the festivities and japery last for two whole days, instead of one half day, it lasts four times longer. There you are. And here's a site to give you more details. Lovely muzak accompaniment too. Give it time to kick in!

    That's a Yo! Mags.

In Scotland, April Fools Day is 48 hours long and you are called an "April Gowk", which is another name for a cuckoo. The second day is called Taily Day and is dedicated to pranks involving the buttocks. Taily Day's gift to posterior posterity is the still-hilarious "Kick Me" sign.
