The area now known as New York was originally a Dutch settlement and called New Amsterdam. However Cronus is right that at the time, its Dutch settlers did not come from the Kingdon of the Netherlands (as that country is called now) but from "the Republic of the United Provinces of the Netherlands".
If you suspect it is a very literal trick question then the answer is probably "false", otherwise it will be "true".

The Kingdom of the Netherlands was formed in 1815. In 1830 we Belgians opted out and founded our own Kingdom. As in the era of Peter Stuyvesant's New Amsterdam, there was no Kingdom of the Netherlands, the answer should be NO, especially as the very idea of a monarchy would have been abhorred by Stuyvesant's Dutch contemporaries.
