Has anyone ever sent some robot out of the Milky Way galaxy?

Well, there are real scientists on this site, and I'm just an imposter, but I would think that from the time of the rocket age (1959 was the first shot above the atmosphere), enough time hasn't elapsed for a probe to have exited the galaxy, even if it was sent up four decades ago.

To qualify my "no" and confirm potterguy's post, travelling at the speed of light, it would take 70,000 years to reach the outer edge of the Milky Way from our position in one of its spiral arms.
