    Please excuse my male ignorance, but ladies on the site please briefly explain what the experience of a hot flash consists of?

    		I am not one of the ladies on site, however, a hot flash is a rise in body temperature similar to a fever, caused by an imbalance of hormones. The person feels overheated or feverish, and perspires. When it wakes the person from sleep, this is often called 'night sweats.' The intensity and frequency will vary from individual to individual.
