First sighting reported in 565 CE by Adamnan telling of St Columba's trip on the loch. Nessie is not specifically mentioned in the Protection of Animals (Scotland) Act 1912, but would be covered by it if proven to exist. There appear to be no recent sightings of the Loch Maree monster, either.
