Christmas Disease is caused by a deficiency of Factor 9, and is very similar to regular Hemophilia.
Haemophilia A and B are inherited in a sex-linked recessive way. The genes are located on the X chromosome. Haemophilia A (factor VIII deficiency) is five times more common than haemophilia B, also known as factor IX deficiency or Christmas disease. The incidence is estimated as 10 per 100.000 births.
