What was the 'Great Sunday Hunt'?

Question #47147. Asked by robboy. (May 04 04 9:14 PM)

It took place on 12th Dec 1926 and it was in response to a police appeal. Thousands turned up at Newlands Corner in Surrey to look for Agatha Christie's body on Surry Downs. Of course, it was all a publicity stunt and she was found staying in a hotel in Yorkshire.
