Oh, my goodness, gmack! All of a sudden I feel twelve again! 'The Bumpkin Billionaires' was about a rural (as in the "ooo-aaarrr, where's moi traaaactor" variety) family who won a massive sum of money on the football pools (no lottery back then!), but hated every penny of it, and were always (unsuccesfully) trying to lose it, and become "poor" again. Lolly Pop was about a boy named Archie who had an unbelievably selfish (and incredibly rich) dad who would not spend a penny on his son. I can't quite remember whether these two strips were from 'Whizzer and Chips' or 'Whoopee!' - I bought them both, and loved them equally!

That be a big yay, loik. They both transferred from "Whoopee" when it was taken over by "Whizzer & Chips" in the mid 80's.
I used to love reading these as well as Smiler, Bookworm, Evil Eye, Sheerluck and Son and Mustapha Mi££ion. Sadly, computer games decimated the comics industry and you don't hear much about these excellent comicx any more.

Whoopee and Cheeky! The Bumpkin Billionaires had a very great deal of money burning a hole in their ragged trouser pockets, and unlike most people who are trying to GET money and not succeeding, the Billionaires longed to live in the kind of rustic harmony they assumed being stoney broke would bring to them. Unfortunately for them, all their best efforts - and some of their worst - to lose all their money to the "cruel" hand of fate simply brought them more. And thus they remained the Bumpkin Billionaires until the next installment, rich and miserable with it.
