"Pepperidge Farm", is a baking business started by a Margaret Rudkin.
It became a subsidiary of the Campbell Soup Company in 1960,
"Pepperidge Farm" is named after her family's farm in Fairfield, Connecticut.

My best guess is that pepperidge refers to the Pepperell (Pepperrell} family of Fairfield, whose home might have been on a ridge.

Margaret Rudkin was a Fogarty, so there might be another family link to the Pepperidge family line or they just happened to have bought and lived in a Pepperell home.
