    How did Napoleon Bonaparte come by his first name?

    		He was born Napoleone Buonaparte until he and all his family members had to change their Italian spelling to that of French for all their names due to the French gaining control of Corsica.

    		He was named for his uncle who was named for an obscure Egyptian Martyr, Neapolus. Neapolis in Greek means New Town. At home he was called Nabulio as a nickname.
