You referring to the Comte de Grasse and his victory at Yorktown? Shhhhh! Don't mention that there were more French than Americans in the land forces at Yorktown, either. You'll upset the Americans. They don't like the French and won't want to admit to this!

Very good Baloo!
We figured we repaid Comte de Grasse and Laffeyette in WWI and WWII.
The need for French support probably explains why we really didn't earn our independance until 1814.
The irony is we were in a naval war with the French ten years later, and the Brits shortly afterwards.
Actually, I cannot recall any other significant naval battles won by the French except maybe Hastings in 1066, but that was fought on the beach.
