    The symbol for Gay Pride is the triangle. Why was this shape chosen as the symbol?

    		Actually it is specifically a *pink* triangle.

    In Nazi Germany, concentration camp inmates were forced to wear insignia to indicate why they had been sent - these insignia were differently coloured triangles. Homosexuals were amongst those sent to the camps, and they had to wear a pink triangle, so I assume the current Gay Pride emblem was chosen on the basis of taking what was once a stigma and turning it into a source of pride.
