The southern most section of the Nile, the White Nile, sources from lake Albert in the western section of Uganda. It then flows north, going through northern Uganda, and through Sudan until it reaches Khartoum where the White and the Blue Nile join. The Blue Nile sources at Lake Tana in Ethiopia. It then travels west, then northwest into Sudan until it reaches Khartoum where it is joined by the White Nile. 70% of the water supply of the Nile flows through the Blue Nile. The Nile then travels north, then southwest, then north again until it crosses the border into Egypt. It then passes through the Aswan Dam generating up to a massive 2,100 megawatts of electricity.
