I don't believe it has ever been "politically correct" to murder one's wife, or are you commenting on the method of execution, or the more recent practice of letting guilty sports stars get away with murder?
Charles "Pacer" Smith was a pitcher for the Cincinnati Red Stockings during its first two years in the National League. In 1895, Chuck shot and killed his 5-year-old daughter and teenage sister-in-law, and tried to murder his wife. Later that year, after being convicted for double murder, Smith was hanged in an Illinois prison, becoming the only major league player or pitcher to be executed in baseball history.
