I think hellohowareyou is right - it's Mao's "Little Red Book" as they call it. Every Chinese citizen during Mao's day had to have a copy, so naturally there's a billion copies sold right there. The folks at Guinness claim that their Book of World Records is the worlds best selling book (excluding non-copyright books such as the Bible and the Koran) with over 100 million copies sold.
