How long after the sell-by date can you drink milk, presuming no nasty smell or lumps?

I usually wing it and let my nose make the call. This site says 2-3 days, but I suppose it depends on the type of milk. Thanks robboy. My roommate drinks the milk (cow) until it smells or becomes lumpy. This takes her up to three weeks after the sell-by date. She hasn't displayed any ill-effects , however. Jun 18 04, 12:46 PM

In which country would you find an alcoholic drink nicknamed lion's milk? On many milk jugs, it will specifically state, "drink before this date," so I know when it wil go bad, but sometimes it just says "buy before this date," but that does not mean it will go bad on that date, so how many days is it good to drink before it goes bad? Why do they not just say drink before this date on all of them? Are they doing this on purpose? What TV chef said: “Oooh! I can’t wait till we get Smell-o-Vision so you can smell this at home”?
