What inspired the invention of Velcro?

Georges de Mestral was out for a walk with his dog one day. When he came back, covered in burrs like his dog, instead of sorting out his poor animal he looked at one under a microscope and had the idea of creating a fastening which used the little hooks of the burrs and the soft fabric for the little hooks to latch onto. A Swiss inventor George de Mestral went for a hike with his dog. They both came home with those pesky burrs thingys clinging to clothes & fur.
