July 1, 1863, 7:30 a.m. was the opening shot at the Battle of Gettysburg.
July 1, 1916. At 7:30 a.m., a 5 day continuous, British artillery bombardment of German lines stopped, and 11 British divisions (100,000 men) went "over the top" toward the Germans. By 9AM 22,000 were dead & another 40,000 were wounded in what became known as the Battle of the Somme. These attacks continued for another five months, costing the British over one million killed & wounded.
Take your pick!
