I know that the blue whale can make the loudest sound of any living thing on Earth at 188 decibels, but what is it used for?

    Question #49785. Asked by the_peacemaker. (Jul 27 04 7:45 PM)

I believe they use it for echolocation as they dive to incredible depths where eyes are useless due to the lack of light.

The echolocation in extreme depths makes sense, since we really don't hear the sound that often. It's a good thing too, since it would probably cause someone's eardrum to explode.
