What is the salary of someone who first starts off in paleontology? A: The salary is usually decent, maybe 30 to 35 thousand a year. But that depends on a lot of different things. I know a Ph.d paleontologist who teaches (adjunct) at a university and makes amazingly little. As JMayfan stated, it depends upon who you are, who you studied with, where you land a position (if at all), and what you've published.
