Who founded Elizabeth Arden cosmetics and where did the name derive from?

Question #49858. Asked by peasypod. (Jul 29 04 5:33 PM)

It was Florence Nightingale Graham, in 1898, derived from the book 'Elizabeth and her German Garden', and Tennyson's poem 'Enoch Arden'.

When she died in 1966 the business had to be sold to pay the taxes.

I have the encyclopedia of corporate names, very useful ;)
