A scandalous Anglo-Welsh thriller-novel was not published until 36 years after it was written. It was published in the year that one of the writers' fans became president of the United States. What was the novel and who was its author?

    Question #50026. Asked by gmackematix.

Come on everyone! A famous Welsh writer with a US Preident as a fan. There can't be many.
From there it shouldn't be too hard to find the book.

Here's a question I accidentally left dangling in August.
It was co-written by two writers. The one whose fan became US President appears on the Sgt Pepper album cover.

I'll post the answer tomorrow night if nobody gets it.

    [Jan 10 05 10:19 PM] gmackematix writes:

It was "Death of the King's Canary" by Dylan Thomas and John Davenport.
Jimmy Carter was a huge fan of Thomas' and travelled to Swansea to open a Dylan Thomas Museum. The book, with thinly veiled parodies of various poets was not published until 1976, when Carter became US President.
