I've heard that after we die, many of our cells continue to live on as if nothing has happened. If so, which human cells are likely to live on longest after the human they were part of has ceased to function?

Brain cells can die if deprived of oxygen for more than three minutes. Muscle cells live on for several hours. Bone and skin cells can stay alive for several days.

Claim: A person's fingernails and hair continue to grow after his death.
Your hair and nails do not continue to grow after you die; it's all optical illusion.
Our flesh dries and, in so doing, pulls away from nails and hair. Thus, though the nail on our big toe, for example, remains the same length as before, the toe it is seated upon shrinks.
