Red kangaroos can jump over 40 feet but I imagine they get a good bounce going before they reach such distances so who knows the standing jump record.
I do know that a kangaroo cannot jump with its tail down.

A Kangaroo cannot jump from a standing start ... it needs to be 'seated' as it needs to push forward with its strong tail to balance on its lower paws.
Also there are many species of kangaroo with many sizes ... in fact, some kangaroos (tree kangaroos) do not jump but crawl upright on tree branches and have prehensile tales.
