Is there a distinction between The Internet and The World Wide Web?

Question #50049. Asked by an alias. (Aug 05 04 6:38 PM)

The internet is an interconnected system of networks that connects computers around the world.
The world wide web is the complete set of documents residing on all internet servers that use the http protocol, accessible to users via a simple point-and-click system.

So internet is how you get online, world wide web is what you see once you're on it.
