    Are the four faces of tower clocks usually operated by a mechanism that turns the hands on all four faces at once, and how long can these things usually run before they need winding up again?

    I think the answer to the first part of this was yes. In lookng this up I have found there is much pressure around the world to change the old gearing mechanisms for more modern electrical workings.
