From where comes the term "Madhatter"?

    Question #50157. Asked by Buck540.

    romeomikegolf

Alice in Wonderland. The term 'mad as a hatter' was thought to be linked to mercury poisoning suffered by hat makers. The connection is tenuous however, as the term itself doesn't seem to appear in the language until Lewis Carrol uses it.
