asks:
In the Athens Olympic opening ceremony, what were the costumes made of? They almost looked like a neoprene material, they seemed to have some flex to them but no apparent seams.

since nobody's answered it, I'll just say that Lycra is worn by swimmers :P
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sportacademy/hi/sa/swimming/features/newsid_3909000/3909817.stm
"Lycra is a lightweight, flexible material used in all sorts of clothing, and nylon/Lycra garments remain the most popular choice for swimmers today.
Speedo's latest innovation - an all-in-one bodysuit designed to mimic the movement of a shark - will be worn by top stars such as Grant Hackett and Michael Phelps in Athens."
