Where do we get the expression "to take the mickey"?

Question #50449. Asked by MaggieG 5.

Eric Partridge and the Oxford English Dictionary don't offer an explanation.

Cassell's Dictionary of Slang says that it's truncated rhyming slang ("mickey" being allegedly short for "Mickey Bliss"), but it doesn't offer any evidence.

Yes. I didn't think the filter would let us type that word.
