If you drink one or two every night late on, you will suffer the effects of sleep deprivation as Red Bull (don't know KMX) contains quite large quantities of caffeine, which is a stimulant. It is also a diuretic, which encourages your body to pass more urine. I use a cheaper equivalent when driving long distances after a hard day at work. What effect the taurin (from which I think the Red Bull gets its name) has, I don't know.

KMX lacks the taurine, but is similar on caffeine. Taurine seems very good for you and has apparently no side effects. http://www.healthwell.com/healthnotes.cfm?ContentID=2915002
Unusual, that.
