The Olympic Games haven't been amateur since 1992, with the exception of boxing. Athletes can be sponsored for their events but are not awarded anything by the International Olympic Committee besides what they are given on the Olympic podium. The Canadian Olympic Committee announced the decision Monday as it prepared for the Summer Games next August in Beijing.
