Why is it that some of Cipriani's best known paintings are constantly dragged around the streets of London?

Perhaps dragged isn't a good word. How about "escorted" or "moving"......Gmack? Mibby? Lego? SOTHC? Surely Baloo?

Oh, all right then! I wouldn't quite agree with constantly, though - regularly I would say. Giovanni Battista Cipriani painted the panels on the Lord Mayor's Coach, which is used in the Lord Mayor's Parade annually. He also painted the panels on the Gold State Coach used by the new monarch at Coronation time.

An addition: the coach used most frequently by the monarch is the Irish State Coach, which came into service as recently as Victoria's reign, whereas the others mentioned date from the mid to late 1700s. This is the one used for travelling to open Parliament. It is not painted by Cipriani, who was well dead by 1851 when it was built. There is also an Australian State coach, which has central heating and electric windows!
