    King Louis, the French king of England conveniently airbrushed out of English history records, ruled in 1215 at the invitation of the Barons. If it is King Louis of England we are talking about.

    That's the one. Invaded at the invitation of the barons, got excommunicated in the process, and then inconveniently John died and the barons switched to supporting Henry III. One of those what-if situations.... Went on to become Louis VIII of France and fathered Louis IX (Saint Louis) which I suppose served him right...
