What is the oldest continuously inhabited city in existence?

My guess would be Damascus, capital of the Bible's "Aram Dameseq" (Damascus Aramean) empire. Other strong candidates are Jericho and Jerusalem (which was conquered more times and by more different peoples than any other city).
