I'm going to store a guitar for 24 months. Should I store it with the strings loosened or tuned (taut) to avoid damage?

2 years is a long time, so it would be better to remove the strings and then have your guitar re-strung on your return - as they will probably have broken anyway.

I disagree with the other comments. All string instruments are kept tight when not being played and in the case... even stradivarius violins. The strings are keeping the neck stiff and straight, and not over warping with changes in humidity that might occur at home or even in storage. Strings are cheap and they will need replaced anyway. Trying to use a guitar with a warped back neck is impossible. Keep the strings tight, toss 'em when you get it back out again.
