I think these are the 5 worst season records, post 1901:
1916 .235 154 36-117 Philadelphia Athletics (now Oakland)
1935 .248 153 38-115 Boston Braves (now Atlanta)
1962 .250 161 40-120 New York Mets
1904 .252 157 38-113 Washington Senators (now Minnesota Twins)
1919 .257 140 36-104 Philadelphia Athletics (now Oakland)

Professional baseball encompasses quite a bit of history, and I don't know if we're talking complete team record or a year's worth. For instance, the Fort Wayne Kekiongas compiled a kick-butt team record of 0.368, but they only played 19 games. Total. Then there's the Tampa Bay D'rays with a 0.393 winning percentage, but that's for 970 games.

Meant to add that if the worst record means total won/lost, then the Baltimore Marylands have to be in the running with 0.000 when they went 0-6 back in 1873.

Okay, I really need to learn to think before I type.
Good answers, though.
